The Inland Waterways Training Operation of a U.S. Navy Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team in the Appomattox River has been postponed.
The team was scheduled to hold an operation this week, according to a press release.
The training is now scheduled for the spring of next year.
“This training is valuable to this team in preparation for responding to community needs during times of disaster and for honing their skills in explosives placement,” the release noted.
The Friends of the Appomattox River group has organized the local coordination of this annual training mission since 1998.
“The results of the past years’ training missions are profound in terms of river health and are meaningful to professional development in the EOD team,” the release stated.
