Marching Statesmen complete winning season

- The Marching Statesmen consist of Band Director Derek Ramsey, color guard sponsor Marlie Diggs-McMahon, Shelby Dunaway, Taylor Lacks, Madison Pettus, LeeAnn Nichols, Gabriela Rodriguez, Madison Newcomb, Hallie Watson, Aaliyah Drake, Gemma Lumpkin, Dameon Fields, Christina Smith, Josh Smith, Charity Walton, Chris Johnson, Qyaira Colbert, Samantha Eulert-Eller, Colby Bailey, Cy Brooks, Bailey Miller, Shelby Meyer, David Hamlett, Matthew Poling, Grace Freeman, Bishop Mooring, Josh Hamlett, James Dunaway, Daniel Hamlett, Victoria Ingersoll, Abbey Henry, Jaylon Hansen, Kathryn Santello, Diamond Boyd, Qaevon Rawlings, Joe Hengeli, Ryan Elam, Nicole Brandt, Bradley Wade, LaQuanda Lee, Brianna Smith, Chloe Lord, Alexis Hurt and Kelli Mitter.
The Randolph-Henry High School Marching Statesmen recently completed its 2015 marching season with numerous awards received at various competitions.
On Oct. 10 the Marching Statesmen competed in the Midlothian Showcase of Bands and earned second place percussion, first place color guard, first place marching, first place general effect, first place music and first place overall Class A. The Statesmen were also awarded the highest award of the day, Grand Champion, for Class A and AA.
On Oct. 24, the band competed in the Cavalier Classic at Lord Botetourt High School. The Statesmen earned second place percussion, first place color guard, third place general effect, third place marching, first place music and first place overall Class AA. The Statesmen were also awarded the highest award of the day, Grand Champion, for Class A and AA.
On Nov. 7 the Marching Statesmen traveled to Hermitage High School to compete in the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association State Marching Assessment. At this competition the band goes only for a rating and they earned a Superior rating, the highest rating a band can receive.
This is the fourth consecutive year the Marching Statesmen have earned a Superior rating at the VBODA Marching Assessment and the second time in the history of the Marching Statesmen that two Grand Champion awards have been earned within the same season.
