Panthers ready to pounce Davidson

The Southside Virginia Community College men’s basketball team will take on The College of Davidson and Davie Counties in Thomasville, N.C., on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The DCCC Storm does not leave their opponents any room for errors during games, as they have shown in the 19-2 season thus far.
The SVCC Panthers (8-5) have won five out of their last six games and continue to show improvement in their scores.
In SVCC’s last game against Washington Academy on Jan. 17, Anthony Harris had a game-high 41 points. Jahmel Johnson raked in 18 points, while Kaimonne Douglas had 17 and Reggie Dennis had 15.
In their win before that against Central International College, the three standouts produced 35 points combined.
In the Storm’s last game against Elite Skills Academy on Jan. 16, five players ended in double figures.
Leader Josh Kamba finished with 15 points, while Sadeeq Bello notched 14. Tre Williams (13), Skylar McGee (11) and Quindon Cottman (10) were leading scorers as well.
The Panthers will have to play flawlessly to be competitive against DCCC this weekend.
SVCC will return to its home court on Saturday, Feb. 6, when they Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Coach Dennis Smith was not available for comment.
