Area artist Diana Thorpe, pictured, recently painted a picture of Briery Presbyterian Church, which happens to have a site on the Birding and Wildlife Trail located in southern Prince Edward County. The congregation dates back to 1775 and the church building to 1854. Thorpe, who seeks out historical places and the natural beauty of Southside Virginia, was drawn to Briery because of its National Historic Register designation as well. The painting captures the essence of the church’s two proud distinctions —  the charm of the structure and the tranquility of the setting. Members of the church were delighted to receive the beautiful painting.
