Crafton’s Gate comes together

Last Tuesday at the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors meeting, Virginia Department of Transportation Resident Engineer Scot Shippee announced the upcoming installation of a stoplight at Crafton’s Gate — an intersection in the lower end of the county that has seen numerous accidents over the year.
Oddly enough, later that week, the intersection saw another accident which sent two people to the hospital. An unfortunate reminder of the dangerous intersection that safety groups, VDOT and the board have been trying to address for some time.
We want to commend those groups and organizations for the continued research and relentless hard work put in to make this change happen.
Regardless of whether you think a stoplight is the solution for the intersection or not, something needed to be done — and now something is being done.
