The Central Middle School (CMS) golf team went to 3-0 on the season after defeating its primary rival in the Southside Middle School Conference on Monday — Park View.

CMS won 196-205 at the South Hill Country Club.

“The closeness is what I thought it was going to be, just glad we came out on the better end,” CMS Head Coach J.R. Allen said.

Jordan Colbert led the Central squad, shooting a 47, with Drew Dowdy producing a 48. Brenden Francisco and Caleb Shook followed with a 50 and 51, respectively.

“We just played fairly decent and just the experience of playing the course before helped us out a lot,” Allen said.

The CMS team hosts Amelia on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Briery Country Club and will face a strong challenge from a non-conference opponent on Monday when it hits the road to take on Halifax at 4 p.m.
