An 18-year-old Wylliesburg man died after his all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crashed Saturday around 7:45 p.m. in Charlotte County.

According to Virginia State Police (VSP) Trooper James Gregory, the accident took place on Lindward Road (Route 603) in the Chase City area, about 300 feet south of Quarter Horse Road. Gregory identified the victim as Colton B. Osborne.

According to a VSP press release, Osborne was driving a 2015 CanAm Renegade 1000 east on Route 603 when it ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.

A second ATV crashed moments later, almost at the same location as the fatal crash. VSP said Tyler Wilkins suffered injuries.

On Sunday Gregory said Wilkins was flown to Duke in North Carolina and was believed to be in critical condition at the time.

VSP said the crashes are being investigated separately.
