Statesmen are district champs

The Randolph-Henry High School varsity golf team finished another undefeated regular season run in the James River District this past week, earning its 17th consecutive district championship.
“The Statesmen golf team has now won 173 consecutive district matches,” R-H Head Coach Kelly Powell said. “I am very proud of the entire team for their accomplishments.”
On Thursday, the Statesmen shot a 153 team score at Falling River Country Club, while Goochland shot a 185 and Buckingham shot a 189. Evan Mason led R-H with a three-under-par 33.
On Sept. 6, the Statesmen shot a 156, with Bluestone shooting a 190 and Nottoway producing a 191 at Kinderton Country Club. Gunnar Lacks and Mason each shot a two-over-par 38.
Randolph-Henry (21-0) closes the regular season with two more non-district matches.
