Southern Virginia Go Meeting set for Thursday

Contingent upon certification by the Go Virginia Board, the Southern Virginia Go Region 3 Council will hold a public meeting on Thursday to elect officers, approve bylaws and review the responses to the request for information to the support organization and fiscal agent, status of the growth and diversification plan and discussion on advisory committee assignments, according to press release.
The meeting will be held at the offices of Mid-Atlantic Broadband, 1100 Confroy Dr. in South Boston.
According to the press release, Go Virginia is the state’s emerging economic development initiative.
The mission of Go Virginia is to “encourage collaboration among business, education and government in each region on activities that will enhance private sector growth and opportunity, economic competitiveness and alignment of workforce development programs with the needs of the employers in the regions.”
The Southern Virginia Region includes Buckingham, Cumberland, Prince Edward, Lunenburg, Charlotte, Patrick, Henry, Pittsylvania, Halifax, Mecklenburg, Brunswick, Nottoway, Amelia, Martinsville and Danville.
