On Saturday, as many of us lounged in our homes, took strolls along our driveways retrieving the afternoon mail and spent time with our families, volunteer firefighters from Phenix, Drakes Branch, Charlotte Court House and Red House were at an old farmhouse on Thornton’s Mill Road training and preparing for worst-case scenarios, including search and rescues for victims. We thank the hardworking men and women of all fire departments across Charlotte County for their dedication to protecting us and our property.
