September 21

AMERICAN LEGION POST 260 MEETING, 6:45 p.m. at Sheldon’s Restaurant in Keysville. Post 260 meets the third Thursday of each month.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY, 6 p.m. at Morrison Grove Baptist Church. The Women’s Empowerment Bible Study is open to all women.

September 22

BLOCK PARTY, 4-7 p.m. at Wayland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Keysville. The event will feature a bouncy house, dunking booth, barrel cars, Child ID service provided by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, food for sale and more.

TOWN HALL MEETING, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Gethsemane Presbyterian Church in Drakes Branch. This event is sponsored by Tri-County Community Action to discuss enrollment of Commonwealth Coordinated Care Virginia Medicaid Managed Care Program. Refreshments will be provided. Medicaid recipients, family members and residents are encouraged to attend.

HOMECOMING, 11 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Abilene. Shawn Ames will be the speaker. A covered dish lunch will be served after the service. Everyone is invited.

HOMECOMING, 11 a.m. at Community Gospel Church. Dinner will follow the service.

GOSPEL SINGING, 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Wylliesburg. Come and enjoy good gospel singing with us and bring a friend.

SOUTHALL MEMORIAL UMC YARD SALE, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Saxe Community Building next to the church. Hot dogs, drinks, chips and some desserts will be sold on Saturday.

BENEFIT RIDE, 9:30 a.m. at the Drakes Branch Pavilion. Southside Buffalo Soldiers will sponsor the ride for fallen Buffalo Soldier George Roberts. Cost is $15 per rider and $5 per passenger. Proceeds will assist with son, Jacoby Roberts. For more information, call (804) 665-8860.

REVIVAL, 7 p.m. nightly at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Abilene. The guest speaker will be Evangelist Steve Freeman, founder of Steve Freeman Ministries and staff evangelist at Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Special music will will accompany each night including Prodigal Son, Sunday; Bubba Hurt, Monday; Smokey Wilson, Tuesday and Dean Vassar, Wednesday. A nursery will be provided each night.

October 7

OPPORTUNITY FUND SKEET CLASSIC, 8 a.m. at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox for graduating high school seniors in Southside Electric Cooperative’s (SEC) service area. In just two years, 30 $1,000 scholarships have been given to students headed to college or a trade/technical school whose parents or guardians are served by SEC. The individual registration fee for the skeet shoot is $75, while squads of five can sign up for $325. All participants must provide their own guns and ammunition, and skeet shooters of all levels are welcome. The event is limited to the first 50 participants, who must register in advance. Sponsorship and donation opportunities are available for businesses and individuals who’d like to support this event. Sponsor returns include having a squad in the event, banners, signage and recognition in the event program.
