The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens about different scams. There have been several reports of phone scams, as well as letters being sent through the mail. Beware of letters received in the mail containing a check of any kind asking you to cash and send some money back because you have won the grand prize.

There are also letters being sent offering to buy your land. Know what your land is worth before answering any of these letters. Also, please be aware even though you receive a phone call that looks like a local phone number, it could be from another area that is not local. Please be aware of scams and do not give out any personal information over the phone.
