Este, Wall store joy

Susan Este and Linda Wall have spent the time between Christmas and New Year’s ringing up donated items and stocking the shelves at the Tailwagger’s Thrift Store.
Este, who lives outside Keysville, calls Charlotte County home and has volunteered with the Southside SPCA for seven years.
When not at the store, Este said she enjoys reading. Historical mysteries are her genre of choice, and she said she enjoys authors such as Ellis Peters and Arthur Conan Doyle.
“Reading, that’s a good hobby,” she said.
Este, who said she feels shy about being the center of attention, spoke up when asked about a cause she was passionate.
“Spay and neuter your pets,” Este said, noting the SPCA has a service for that cause. “That’s the No. 1 thing you can do.”
When asked about her favorite color, Este said, “It changes. Right now it’s burnt orange.”
Este said she is fond of the area, and couldn’t choose a favorite aspect of it.
“Oh gosh, I love Keysville,” she said. “The whole town. What could be a single thing (to say?)”
Linda Wall, in between talking with customers and helping them choose winter gear, said her favorite aspect was getting to know people.
“One thing would be the people,” she said. “Really what we’re doing is we’re here to help the community.”
Wall, who also lives in the county, said her hobby time is taken up between her volunteering and taking care of the animals on her farm.
“I have 39,” Wall said about the number of animals she cares for. “I have pigs, a sheep, two donkeys, two horses, dogs and cats.”
When asked what her favorite aspect of caring for the animals are, she said, “I think the love that they give me.”
