Historic Staunton River Foundation participates in Crossing of the Dan

The Historic Staunton River Foundation Inc. recently participated in the wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the 237th Commemoration of the Crossing of the Dan held at The Prizery and Boyd’s Ferry in South Boston on Saturday, Feb. 17. The Crossing of the Dan has been described as a “masterful military maneuver” that would mark the beginning of the defeat of the British by the American Patriots. The Historic Staunton River Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion, development and preservation of the Staunton River Battlefield State Park that encompasses not only the history and legacy of the Staunton River, but also local historical sites, such as the Crossing of the Dan.
