Charlie Monroe Pennell, age 70, of Skipwith, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018. He was born June 3, 1947 in Campbell County, VA. He grew up in Charlotte County, VA and was the son of the late Cleveland Monroe Pennell and the late Victoria Byrd Pollard Pennell. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Chase City and has been a Deacon for many years. He retired from Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative. Charlie was an avid bowler and was inducted into the South Boston USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lee Roy Pollard and sister, Mary Ellen Price. Charlie is survived by his wife, Judy Gilliam Pennell; two daughters, Rhonda Pennell Foreman and husband, John of Henderson, NC and Joni Pennell Newcomb and husband, Anthony of Skipwith, VA; and four granddaughters, Rebecca Danielle Foreman, Jessica Hope Foreman, Autumn Nicole Pennell, and Kendall Sierra Newcomb. He is also survived by four sisters, Margaret Wells, Daisy Mawyer, Irean Lacks, and Patsy Nash; numerous nieces and nephews; and devoted friends, Tammy and Elic Trent.
Visitation was held from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Woodland Cemetery in Chase City.
