The Charlotte County Angels All-Star team endured a tough loss to start its play at the state level but ultimately showed remarkable toughness in the course of its 1-2 run during the 2018 Virginia Dixie Softball Angels X-Play State Tournament in Amherst County.
On Friday, Charlotte faced a talented Dinwiddie All-Star squad and ended up falling 23-0. Looking to bounce back in the double-elimination tourney, the Charlotte Angels All- Stars took on the Bedford National All-Stars on Saturday and ended up winning 10-0 in a mercy rule-shortened contest.
Sidney Hamlette produced an outstanding performance in the circle, and on offense, Hadleigh Duffer and Alex Clark provided some key highlights. Duffer essentially achieved a home run on a bunt after taking advantage of overthrows to first and third. Clark recorded a double and two RBIs.
Charlotte showed its toughness Sunday when, down by six runs to the Appomattox All-Stars, it tied the game and took it to two extra innings before falling 8-6.
