Schools dismissed early, power outages cite

Charlotte County Public Schools were dismissed at 1 p.m. Thursday
According to a notice from Superintendent of Charlotte County Schools Nancy Leonard, school was dismissed early due to widespread power outages throughout the county.
“Lunch will be served to our students prior to their dismissal. All after school activities have been canceled for today,” the notice said prior to the students’ release.
An early Thursday notice from the school division said some office phones were not working at local schools throughout the county due to partial power outages.
“If you attempt to call a school main line and cannot get through, please try the emergency fax line number,” said the notice.
According to current outage information from Dominion Energy, 289 customers in the local area were without power due to a damaged power line.
Crews have been dispatched, said the outage information and the estimated time of restoration was predicted between noon-3 p.m.
