Randolph-Henry High School’s (R-H) varsity baseball team finished the regular season on a three-game winning streak, giving it momentum as it begins play in the Region 2A tournament Thursday at 6 p.m.
The No. 2 Statesmen will host either No. 7 Greensville County High School or No. 10 Bruton High School.
R-H finished the regular season with an overall record of 15-5.
“I feel like our regular season has tested our ability to win all types of games,” Statesmen Head Coach Joshua Barmoy said. “We have had to come from behind to win a few games, finish some games where we got an early lead and win some tight games. With this being said, I feel like we are prepared mentally to face whatever challenge is thrown our way. Obviously, we have to go out there and play a clean game, but it is nice to have references from past success to lean on in a time of need.”
Randolph-Henry closed the regular season Thursday with a 6-1 road win over Cumberland County High School.
“We were able to keep Cumberland off the bases for the majority of the game,” Barmoy said. “Noah Walker pitched an excellent game for us. He did not walk anyone and only allowed four hits, while we were able to put pressure on Cumberland as we collected nine hits and two walks.”
