Walker appointed CRC secretary

Gary Walker, County Seat District Supervisor with the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors, was appointed secretary of the Commonwealth Regional Council (CRC) during its meeting June 19.
Walker succeeds Dr. Nancy Carwile, previous Cullen/ Red House Supervisor and CRC secretary. He was nominated and voted in favor of being secretary by the CRC. The term for CRC secretary is two years.
Lunenburg County Brown’s Store District Supervisor Mike Hankins was appointed chairman of the CRC, succeeding Amelia County Chairman and District One Supervisor Tommy Gleason. Gleason was appointed vice president. Buckingham County District Four Supervisor Morgan Dunnavant will continue in his current role as CRC treasurer.
Gleason was nominated to serve a state Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions Board of Directors. A vote would take place at a state conference on July 24-26.
“He’s done an outstanding job as our chair,” Hankins said about Gleason’s services to the CRC, particularly during a time of transition in the organization. To Gleason, he said, “Thank you for your work.”
