Randolph-Henry High School’s varsity football team produced some exciting highlights on offense Friday night, showing clear potential for more, but visiting Prince Edward County High School was able to pull away and then hold on for a decisive 54-30 victory.
The Statesmen continued to struggle with consistency. They trailed 20-14 at halftime but allowed the Eagles to produce a huge third quarter and jump ahead 40-14.
Among those standing out for the Statesmen despite the loss was junior Tyshaundre Walton, who gained key yards for his team as a rusher coming out of its double-wing set.
Randolph-Henry (0-3) visits Nottoway High School next Friday at 7 p.m.
See next week’s edition of The Gazette for more details on the Prince Edward game and a small preview of the Nottoway contest.
