Arthur promoted to ADN Coordinator

Melissa P. Arthur has been promoted to Coordinator of the Associate Degree Nursing Program for Southside Virginia Community College. Prior to this appointment, she was a full-time faculty member in the program.
Dr. Michelle Edmonds, Special Assistant to the Vice-President of Workforce and Academics, said, “Melissa is not new to Southside, she has been a longstanding faculty member in nursing, teaching in both the Practical Nursing Program and in the Associate Degree Nursing Program. I am excited to work with Melissa in her new role as she brings to us many talents that will be beneficial to the program and the college.”
Arthur received her Registered Nursing Diploma from The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1993, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regents College University of New York in 1999, and Masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Old Dominion University in 2001.
Her professional practice experience includes working at Halifax Internal Medicine, Southside Emergency Services, South Boston Neurology and Halifax Regional Hospital. Professional affiliations include Longwood University Nursing Honor Society, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the National League of Nursing.
