During the month of November all classes in grades first through fifth at Eureka Elementary School conducted numerous spelling bees in their rooms.
Three winners from each classroom advanced to the grade level spelling bee and then two winners from each grade level participated in the school wide spelling bee.
On Dec. 5, the schoolwide spelling bee contestants were as follows: first grade, Kali Street and Tanner Townsend; second grade, Madison Graham and Ava Thompson; third grade, Cody Adams and Cale Schreckengost; fourth grade, Brody Bolton and Melanie Boettcher; and fifth grade, Shania Jones and Clay Clements.
The Eureka Spelling “Bee” champion for 2019 – 2020 was fourth grader Bolton, and third grader Adams was named runner-up. These students will represent Eureka Elementary at the County Spelling Bee in January. Judges were Linda Conkwright, Sandy Flynn and Penny Locke.
