The Barksdale Cancer Foundation will host a Rainbow of Ribbons Pageant fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Randolph-Henry High School beginning at 3:30 p.m.
There will be six pageant categories, including Baby Miss, Tiny Miss, Lil Miss, Junior Miss, Teen Miss and Miss.
According to President of The Barksdale Cancer Foundation Wendy Lankford, the Barksdale family from Phenix founded the organization in 1999 after they lost three family members in four years to Cancer.
Lankford continued to say that the foundation keeps all of the funds raised in Charlotte County, and they are used to help people living with cancer. “There is an overwhelming need for services because there is so much cancer in Charlotte County, which has a poor and aging population and few nearby resources which offer cancer treatments,” explained Lankford.
Lankford says that over the years, the foundation has provided $192,200 to Charlotte County cancer patients.
