Phenix Elementary School honored its school nurse Melanie Scruggs during National Nurses Day Wednesday, May 6 with a shout out on its Facebook page. Scruggs who has been a nurse for the past eight years has been serving the students at PES for the past six of those years. “I love the students and the staff in that school truly like they are my family,” Scruggs said. “I would do anything and everything to protect them and serve them.” Scruggs says that being honored during National Nurses Day brought tears to her eyes. “I honestly cannot even put into words how much this means to me.
