Randolph-Henry High School (R-H) Director of Athletics and Assistant Principal Christopher Holt shared these photos Friday, May 15, after a week of celebrating the school’s 2020 graduates by illuminating the grounds and evening sky with the lights around the athletics fields. He opened the week May 11 with an onsite video message on Facebook. “We’re here at Bankston Field with the lights shining brightly at Bankston Field, Laine Field and also our tennis courts,” he said. “It is 8:20 p.m. on May 11th — 2020 military time, and we are here to have these stadium lights on to honor the class of 2020 in the ‘Be the Light’ movement that is going on across the country to honor this year’s class of 2020.” He noted that generally, that week would have been the one in which R-H’s seniors were recognized during Senior Night festivities because their last home game would be occurring. “However, that’s not the case this year, and due to COVID-19 things look completely different,” he said. “And as much as my heart truly breaks for our seniors, this is one way that we can say, ‘Hey, we remember you guys, we know the contributions that you have made and the ones that you will continue to make.’ So I’ll be here all week, Monday-Friday, at 8:20 p.m., and these stadium lights will be on for 20 minutes to honor the class of 2020.”
