A Drakes Branch man was killed following an accident involving a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Highway 59 and Ingleside Lane on Thursday, Aug. 6.

According to Virginia State Police the accident occurred at 10:55 p.m. when a 2019 Freightliner FLD tractor-trailer driven by Brandon N. Davis, 33, of Norfolk was backing up on Hwy 59 causing the trailer to cross the center line.

A 2000 Saab 95, driven by Daniel M. Walsh, 79 was traveling in the opposite direction and came around the curve and struck the trailer.

Walsh died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Davis was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt. He has been charged with reckless driving.

The crash remains under investigation.
