Charlotte County Public School (CCPS) Board member Angela Cook has resigned after serving less than a year on the board.
CCPS Board Chairperson Gloria Talbott made the announcement during the school board’s Tuesday, Sept. 8 meeting.
Cook was first elected to the school board representing the Court House district in November 2019. She ran unopposed.
In an emotional address to the board and those in attendance, Cook said being in ministry and being a member on the school board has conflicts at times.
Cook, whose resignation becomes effective Sept. 25, noted there is a move in her near future and that she would not be able to continue on the board.
“It is my ministry calling that is moving me forward,” she said, “We all have seasons in our life, and my season is up here, and I will be moving on to do what God calls me to do.”
The school board has until Nov. 9 to appoint a member to fill Cook’s seat.
