The Charlotte County Public School (CCPS) Board approved an instructional schedule change for Thanksgiving week during its Tuesday, Nov. 10 meeting.

Monday, Nov. 23 will have in-person instruction for students with last names starting with the letters “A” through “J.”

Tuesday, Nov. 24 will be in-person instruction for students with last names starting with the letters “K” through “Z.”

Wednesday, Nov. 25 will be remote instruction for all students. No students should report in person.

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, CCPS will be close at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Schools will reopen Monday, Nov. 30.

CCPS students returned to a hybrid in-person instruction on Nov. 2 after months of school administration working with health officials to determine if COVID-19 cases in the county were at a level to bring students back safely.

During the Nov. 10 board meeting, CCPS Superintendent Robbie Mason told board members the recent COVID-19 case increases the county is currently seeing were described by health officials as mainly household clusters.

As of Tuesday, Nov. 17, Charlotte County COVID-19 cases since March totaled 259. The Virginia Department of Health reported 11 new cases of the virus in one-week period from Nov. 10 to Nov. 17.

Charlotte County is currently reporting four deaths and 24 hospitalizations.
