The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Anita’s Homestyle Cooking Restaurant in Drakes Branch.

According to investigators, the restaurant’s owner Anita Blackwell went to the back door to take out the trash shortly after opening around 9:30 a.m. when she encountered two white men wearing a mask, one with a knife who pushed her back inside the store demanding money.

Investigators said no customers were in the restaurant at the time of the robbery.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.

The two suspects left the scene on foot in an undetermined direction of travel.

The Virginia State Police K-9 unit and Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

A cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the crime.
