Starting in February, the Charlotte County Administration office is making it even easier for citizens to keep abreast of county business.

According to County Administrator Dan Witt, the plan is to have all the details worked out by the February 8 board of supervisors meeting to allow citizens to see the entire board room and hear the live meetings via a video feed.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, citizens have been able to access the live BOS meetings via Zoom from their phone or audio on their computer.

“Now, they will also have a live video stream,” Witt said.

Board Chairman Gary Walker said he hopes the new technology will enable more citizens to feel like they are a part of the decision-making process.

“Some folks can come to day meetings, and some can come to night meetings, but this should allow more to see and hear the way decisions are made,” Walker said. “Maybe there will be a bit more decorum if people know that others can see and hear the way they act.”
