Charlotte County received its first ladder truck fire engine last Wednesday, April 7.
With the help of the Town of Keysville, the Keysville Volunteer Fire Department was able to purchase a used ladder truck from the Christiansburg Fire Department.
“We are very pleased to have this truck,” Chief Lynn Duffey said. “It is in mint condition.”
According to Duffey, the county is in need of a ladder truck to help fight fires in situations that may occur at businesses with two stories or are large in size such as Southside Virginia Community College or the courthouse.
Duffey said there is still training that needs to be done before the truck can be put into service. He is hoping to have it operational by the end of April.
