After a year of COVID-19 restrictions and missed events, the Randolph-Henry High School (R-H) Class of 2021 will walk across the stage and accept their diplomas this Saturday, May 22.

According to R-H Principal, Erin Davis, commencement will be held at 1 p.m. in the football stadium.

“In order to provide a ceremony that accommodates students, staff, and guardians at 30% capacity, we will need to hold this event outdoors,” Davis said. “This facility would allow enough space for all students to invite four guests to graduation.”

Davis said seating would be marked to allow for social distancing between families, but families would be allowed to sit together in the bleachers.

CCPS plans to live stream the graduation as well for guests who are unable to attend due to health conditions or capacity concerns.

“We are very excited that our school will be allowed to host a formal commencement for our students this year,” Davis said. “Although our ceremony will be different than in years past, we are committed to making it memorable and special for the Class of 2021.”

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held inside at the Central Middle School gymnasium.

“We will make a weather determination no later than Friday, May 21, in regard to whether the event must be relocated,” Davis said. “If graduation is held indoors, students will be limited to two guests due to capacity restrictions.”
