Susie Terry Lindsey, formerly of Charlotte Court House, made her journey to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 27, in Alexandria. She was born on June 10, 1938 to the late James and Esther Terry.
She was a graduate of the former Central High School and received a degree from St. Paul’s College. She retired from teaching in 1995 in Fairfax County Public Schools. Susie loved to assist in organizing her family reunions, volunteering her time to after school programs, mentoring her grandson, giving words of advice and watching football and her favorite TV shows.
Susie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, John Lindsey Sr.; sister, Ella Morton; brother, James Terry; sisters-in-law, Mildred L. Lomax and Sylvia Terry and brother-in-law, Russell Morton.
She is survived by her son, John J. Lindsey II of Falls Church and daughter, Tammi-Zee Lindsey of Alexandria; grandson, Michael C. Butts; sister, Melvina Morton; brothers, George and Joseph Terry; foster brother, Donald Pierce; sisters-in-law, Flo Lindsey and Elizabeth Ann Terry; brother-in-law, Eddie Lomax; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Graveside funeral service was held 1 p.m., Saturday, June 5th at St. Louis Baptist Church Cemetery, Charlotte Court House. Services of Comfort were provided by Dupee’s Funeral Home of Drakes Branch. Condolences may be expressed at dupeefuneralhome.com.
