David Ray Toombs, 83 of Saxe, left this earth for his home with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Oct. 12. He was at home, surrounded by loved ones, when he departed.

David was a graduate of Randolph Henry High School and served in the United States Army. He studied ministry at John Wesley Bible College.

David worked hard to support his family all of his married life. He began his career at John Deere Equipment and finished it out as General Manager at Tate Lumber Company in Red Oak. He co-managed a family cattle-farming operation for many years up until his passing.

David will most be remembered for his enthusiasm for promoting the Gospel of Jesus. He loved the Lord and continually encouraged everyone he met to read their Bible. David was a giving man, and will be remembered for his many random acts of kindness.

He is survived by his wife Lena; four children, George (Donna), Russell, Stephen (Janeal) and Sarah (Tim); 12 grandchildren, Ariel (Shaun), Timmy (Haley), Peter (Mary), Elise (Matthew), Julia, Alexis, Emily, Levi (Amy), Chloe, Lily and John and 8 great grandchildren, Naomi, Shilah, Wyatt, Arizona, Adeline, Elijah, Apollos and Emmett. David was eagerly anticipating the birth of 3 more great grandchildren. Each child, grandchild and great grandchild knew and felt his love.

Graveside services were held in celebration of his homecoming on Friday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m., at Southall Memorial Cemetery in Saxe.

The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville, served the family.
