Weather service confirms tornado

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Blacksburg has confirmed a EF-1 tornado touched down in Charlotte County on May 27.
According to meteorologists the tornado was only on the ground for approximately 0.06 miles and primarily affected a private residence along Green View Road about 1.6 miles south-southwest of Chandlers Fork around 9 a.m.
NWS meteorologists said the EF-1 twister has maximum wind gusts of 95 miles per hour.
Numerous trees were either snapped or uprooted along the path of the tornado.
According to NWS some of the downed trees caused extensive damage to the home along Green View Road, including significant damage to 20% of the roof and a bedroom on the east side of the home.
Glass doors and windows on the home were also broken.
At the end of the tornado’s path, essentially right along Green View Road, power lines were also down in addition to more trees.
