Willie Monroe Lacks, of Randolph, passed away at his home on June 22. He was born in Halifax County on June 10, 1941, and was 81 years of age. He was the son of the late Willie Lewis Lacks and the late Cora Seamster Lacks. He would have been married for 61 years this coming August 12 to June Newcomb Lacks who survives. They were sweethearts since the seventh grade.
He was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church of Drakes Branch, where he was a Deacon for many years. His church was his second family. He owned the NAPA stores in Clover and Halifax.
Willie Monroe Lacks is survived by his wife of 60 years, June Newcomb Lacks; his children, Bart M. Lacks of Richmond, Jennifer Lacks of Red Oak and Angel Lacks (Chris Owen) of Randolph; three grandchildren, Curtis Kelehar (Grace) of Georgia, Joel David Kelehar (Fallyn) of Texas, Jessica Anderson of North Carolina; seven great grandchildren; dearly loved nephew, Bobby Pugh (Mandy) of Gladys; two nieces, Suzanne Shotwell (Mark) of Alton and Krystal Collie (Camren) of South Boston; special friend and pastor, Jerry Jordon and his furry companion, Dolly.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Linda Lee Lacks, Jean Pugh and Larry Junior Lacks.
A graveside was held Saturday, June 25, at 2 p.m., at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, 239 Friendship Church Rd., Drakes Branch, VA 23937. The Rev. Dr. Jerry Jordan officiated the service.
