Half the year is behind us. Here at Charlotte Learning Center (CLC), we’re just starting our new fiscal year and we’re hoping to start it off with a bang, like the beautiful fireworks used to celebrate our country’s independence.
Fridays, July 15 and July 22, we are hosting our two-part workshop for writers. Both sessions will start at 11 a.m. and run roughly three hours with time for questions and answers with our guests. Snacks will be available.
Part one focuses on the writing process. We welcome established and aspiring authors to join in with us as we have interactive discussions and activities with local authors Sandy Raven, Ann Snizek, and Jamie Ruff. Both fiction and nonfiction writers can find value in this workshop to help prepare your own manuscript for publishing.
Part two focuses on the publishing process. Kim Eley, of KWE Publishing, will join authors Sandy Raven and Ann Snizek as they discuss the many layers of both traditional and self-publishing.
We ask for a small donation per person, per session to benefit CLC and help us continue to provide wonderful content in future workshops.
Next month is fast approaching. We’re hoping to get enough responses to host our first CLC Cook-Off competition on Aug. 20. There will be a small entry fee for the contest and attendees will get to sample and vote for their favorites in three categories: barbecue, sides, and sweets. Come together for the end of summer and share a taste of our wonderful community.
Future tutors keep on the lookout for information on our next, free tutor training. This rewarding volunteer work has benefits for tutors and students.
