It’s been a tradition at Bacon District Elementary School to hold a grandparents’ luncheon at least once a semester. This time, the school opened its doors on Thursday, Sept. 22. More than 100 grandparents came out to spend time with their grandchildren.
“We were excited to welcome all of the grandparents who came to enjoy lunch with the students Thursday,” said Bacon Principal William Pettus. “This has been a tradition here at Bacon School for many years and we are glad to be able to open the school to the community for these events again. The community is what makes our school such a special place.”
Cafeteria staff said they saw students’ eyes light up when grandparents arrived, adding they were all smiles when walking through the line.
Bacon School teacher Shauna Agee agreed.
“It was nice to see our cafeteria full of smiling faces just enjoying each other’s company,” Agee said.
