One of Charlotte County Public School’s academic initiatives for this school year is in the area of writing. Mrs. Bradley’s second graders at Phenix Elementary School rose to the occasion to become published authors.

The second graders researched American symbols and landmarks, which is a second-grade social studies SOL, while integrating writing skills. They wrote their rough drafts, peer-edited their drafts, penned their final copy and illustrated their research.

Mrs. Bradley worked in conjunction with a company to publish and bind the student’s work into a “real” book. The books arrived at Phenix Elementary on Dec. 5. The boys and girls were so excited to see their hard work had turned into a book. Congratulations to them.
