Wade Franklin Morton Jr., 79 of Saxe, entered eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Centra Southside Hospital, Farmville.
Mr. Morton was born in Charlotte County on Nov. 2, 1943 to the late Wade Sr. and Evelyn Davis Morton. He was a graduate of Central High School and Southside Skill Center receiving a certificate in welding. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, Randolph.
Mr. Morton was the owner/operator of Duke’s Dumping. In his spare time, he enjoyed farming and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Morton was preceded in death by his sisters, Sula Morton Burton and Ruth Morton Turner.
Cherishing his memory are his wife, Annie P. Morton of Saxe; daughter, Lashawn York (Michael) of Sanford, North Carolina; extended children in love, Karen D. Mosley of Fredericksburg, Lisa M. Walton (Wayne) of South Boston and Alicia M. Mosley of Chesterfield; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Drake and Debbie Morton both of Richmond and Faye Morton of Suffolk; one brother-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Randolph, where Rev. Charles Scott, officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends was on Monday from 2 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
