With the help of the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, the Lynchburg Police Department has reported the arrest of a man who attempted to rob a Lynchburg Baymont Inn & Suites using a knife.

The incident occurred on May 2 at around 9 a.m. when a man wielding a knife demanded money behind the service counter of 2815 Candlers Mountain Road.

The suspect, identified as Donald Maciver, reportedly fled from the scene.

Maciver, who is 59 years old and from Brookneal, was subsequently arrested in Charlotte County on Wednesday afternoon May 3.

Maciver is now facing charges of attempted robbery with the use of a deadly weapon.
