A committee has been formed and is working to hold a celebration this fall marking the 200th anniversary of the historic Charlotte County courthouse.
According to Kathy Liston, a committee member, the event is set for Oct. 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the courthouse square.
Liston noted the event is being planned as a mini festival.
“Bring a lawn chair and come out and enjoy fellowship in the couth house lawn,” Liston said.
Liston, who addressed the Board of Supervisors on May 8 seeking financial support, said the event did not have a budget currency but did not expect the festival to exceed $5,000.
“We would like to ask for a budget not to exceed $5,000,” Liston told board members.
According to Liston the event will feature a food truck, bands, games, an exhibit in the courthouse and guides on site to inform citizens about the history of the courthouse.”
Following a brief discussion the Board of Supervisors approved funding the festival.
