Clyde Clark, 95 of Phenix, departed this life on July 25, in Farmville. He was born on May 7, 1928 to the late Lenwood Clark and Lottie Cable Clark. In June of 1949, he married the love of his life, Louise Blankenship.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jerenthia Louise Blankenship Clark; brothers, Clifton Clark, Robert Clark, James Howard Clark and William Clark; sister, Mary Clark Copeland; a devoted niece, Ruth Walker; nephew, Robert Clark; great nephews, Jerrod Spencer and Christian Clark; great niece, Faith Copeland and great great niece, Aviance Mapunda.
At an early age, he joined the White Oak Grove Baptist Church. He served on the Usher Board. Clyde was a faithful church member until his health began to decline. For many years, Clyde farmed tobacco. He later worked at VDOT for about eight years before retiring. Relatives and friends called him “Okay”.
He is survived by his brother, Bobby Clark of New York; sisters, Georgia Thomas of Dallas, Texas and Geneva Younger of Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Vernell Clark of Phenix, Edna Balinsey Clark of Charlotte Court House and Jennifer Blankenship of Ohio; devoted niece, Belinda Clark; devoted nephews, Tony Copeland, Larry Copeland and Harold Clark; devoted friend, Flora Randolph; a goddaughter, Paris Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 30, at 1 p.m., at White Oak Grove Baptist Church with interment the church cemetery. Condolences may be expressed at http://www.JeffressFuneralHome.com.
