Virginia State Police investigate Route 360 accident

One person is dead after an accident Sunday afternoon on Route 360 in Charlotte County. Now Virginia State Police say the investigation is continuing into what caused the vehicle to overturn. The incident happened Sunday, Aug. 27 at 4:27 p.m., less than a mile west of Route 15.
State Police officials say a A 2017 Nissan Altima was traveling west on Route 360 when it suddenly ran off the right side of the road, struck an embankment, overturned and struck a road sign.
The driver, 62-year-old John E. Hairston Jr. of Danville, was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for what State Police called minor injuries. A 61-year-old female passenger was also taken to a nearby hospital and treated for more severe injuries. The third person in the Altima, 79-year-old Janie P. Luck of Nathalie, died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.
All three were wearing a seatbelt.
