For the second year, a Veteran’s Day Parade will be held in Drakes Branch on Saturday, Nov. 11, beginning at 11 a.m.
The parade starts at Isabella Street and goes south on Main Street to the intersection of Proctor Street. Line-up will begin at 10 a.m. on Main Street.
Drakes Branch VFW Post 8902 hosted what is believed to be the very first Veterans Day parade in Drakes Branch and possibly Charlotte Court House in 2022.
The idea for the event originated with Julie Hamlett, wife of VFW Post 8902’s Garland H. ‘Butch’ Hamlett, who also served as a member of the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors. Currently, there are 30 groups signed up to take part in the parade, and there is still time for those who wish to be a part of the event to sign up.
