Lunenburg County will get some representation on the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission, as Del. Tommy Wright (R-Victoria) has been appointed to the group.
Wright previously served on the Virginia Tobacco Commission from 2002-2019. During his tenure, Del. Wright was a strong advocate for Southside to receive funding for various projects throughout Southern Virginia and was Chairman of the Southside Economic Development Committee. The mission of the tobacco commission is to promote economic growth and continue its creation of thousands of jobs throughout Southside and Southwest Virginia.
“I look forward to picking up where I left off,” said Del. Wright. “The men and women of Southside have been the backbone of Virginia. I look forward to delivering results for all the families that call Southern Virginia home and will be sure to invest in the needs of the people and our communities. I have never taken my responsibilities to serve the people lightly and welcome this appointment with appreciation.”
The first meeting of 2024 will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 9 in Richmond.
