Are you raising goats and sheep or interested in getting started? Then the Charlotte County Cooperative Extension invites you to take part in the Small Ruminant Field Day. That’ll be held on Friday, May 31 from 8:30 a.m. to about 4 p.m. at the Appomattox County High School and at the school’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) Land Lab.
This program is geared towards producers at all levels, from established flocks and herds, raising a few 4-H lambs, to those wanting to get started. There will be veterinarians, Virginia Tech and Virginia State University Specialists, and peer producers to talk with. Program topics include dystocia and birthing issues, fecal egg counts, feed efficiency, production methods, lamb cooking demonstration, pasture management, FAMACHA, cost share opportunities for the farm, and more!
