Virginia A. Grile, 88, died of natural causes on July 15, at The Woodlands in Farmville. She was born Nov. 5,1935 in Abilene, the daughter of Graham H. Allen and Margaret F. Allen.
In the ninth grade she would meet her future husband at a Halloween party. She described him as a strikingly handsome older guy and on Nov. 28, 1953, at the age of 18, she married the love of her life, John William Grile Jr. Together they raised four daughters of whom they were very proud and built two successful businesses: Burkeville T.V. and Appliance in Burkeville and later Grile’s Grocery in Keysville. Virginia also utilized her sweet disposition and people skills to become a successful Tupperware manager from 1984 to 1988.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John; her two older brothers, Carrol and Sidney, and her younger brother, Billy.
She is survived by her daughters; Diane Schutt of Burkeville, Debra Callis and her husband Al Callis of Kittrell, North Carolina, Donna Grile and her husband Steve Nielsen of Elkton and Tracy Foster and her husband David Foster of Rice; seven grandchildren, Catherine Schutt, David Schutt, Elizabeth Bowman, Daphne Bowman, Joshua Grile, Zachary Foster and Cali Foster.
A celebration of life was held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meherrin.
