Ruby F. Amos, 92, formerly of Farmville, passed away peacefully with family members by her side on July 27. She was the daughter of the late John Ferguson and Maria Ferguson Garnett. She was the widow of the late B.W. “Bill” Amos. Ruby was preceded in death by her brother, John R. Ferguson; sister, Laura Ferguson Childress and infant sister, Mamie Joyce Ferguson.
She is survived by her three children, Donnie Amos (Liz), Bonnie A. Lyle (Berry) and Robert Amos and her grandchildren, Angie Rowe (Bryce), Donnie Amos Jr. (Tory), Trey Lyle (Adele), Justin Lyle (Jennifer), Matt, Ben and Kristin Amos. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren; her brother, Emmett “Tubby” Ferguson and sister, Betty Hammock.
Ruby was an expert seamstress, cake decorator, gardener, all while babysitting many children from the community. She loved her church, Mt. Pleasant Methodist and was very involved in all aspects. Her greatest joy in life was serving God and her family.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, Meherrin, on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 11 a.m., with a family visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 56, Meherrin, VA 23954 or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease.
The Browning-Duffer Funeral Home in Keysville is serving the family.
