Parker Allen was on a tear Tuesday afternoon. Playing at the Farmville Municipal Golf Course, he and the rest of the Randolph-Henry High golf team took control of the match early and didn’t look back. The Statesmen finished at 153 on the day, with Lunenburg not even close behind at 174. The third team, Buckingham, shot a collective 177 for the afternoon.

And it was Parker Allen leading the way for Randolph-Henry, as it’s been all season up to this point. Allen finished with a 34, the lowest score on the day. Between Allen, Liam Hottle and Caden Powell, the trio have been trading back and forth so far this season as to which one will have the low score in a given match. Randolph-Henry Coach Eddie Pyle praised the trio, as well as the rest of his group, saying that he sees more development each time they compete.

“Parker Allen has been solid all year!” Pyle said. “He had three bogeys and still shot a 34 today. Liam Hottle has also been consistent. He still has some more in the tank and he will only get better when we get closer to districts and regionals.”

Hottle shot a 41, with Powell finishing at a 40 on the day. Senior Captain Aiden Bryant added a 47. Pyle also pointed out some other fantastic performances from his team. Garrett Mason, for example, broke 40 for the first time this year, finishing up Tuesday with a 38.

“I’m very impressed with his improvement,” Pyle said.

He also pointed to freshman Cole Toombs, who wrapped up with a 43.

Randolph-Henry golf looks ahead

With Tuesday’s win, the Randolph-Henry golf team improves to 13-0 overall, 10-0 in district play.

“We’re playing well,” Pyle said. “When one person doesn’t play as good, their teammates pick them up!”

Up next for the Statesmen is a trip to the Crewe Country Club on Thursday, Aug. 29. The team will take on Amelia County and Nottoway.
